School Counselling
My name is Carol Termezi and I work as a Counsellor at Caterham High School for two days a week.
I see students from across all year groups for both short and longer term counselling, depending upon individual need.
Students may personally seek counselling support or come through recommendation from school staff or their parents/carers.
There are a wide spectrum of issues which may bring a young person into counselling:
- Anger
- Depression
- Behavioural issues
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Bereavement
- Overcoming traumatic experiences
I offer a confidential, non judgemental and friendly space in which the young person can express and explore the issues they are currently struggling with.
The aim of counselling is to build resilience and self belief which will enable effective and long lasting change and a greater sense of wellbeing.
As talking is not always immediately easy, I provide a range of art and creative materials, therapeutic games and tools which enable open communication in a natural and child friendly way.
My training was specifically focused around working with children and teenagers and is integrative in nature. I use different techniques to draw upon so that the counselling can be adjusted to fit each individual's needs.
I have worked with children and young people for many years in a number of different positions including supporting children with special educational needs in a range of settings.
If you feel that you, or a friend may benefit from taking part in some school counselling then you can speak to Mr Casey or email Safeguarding@ecaterham.net for more information.
