The School Day

Our school day is split into five periods of one hour each.  The school bell will only ring on the hourly lesson changes and 5 minutes before morning and afternoon registration.

8.00am Hearing impaired students attend pre-teaching sessions
8.00am Only students allowed in who are having breakfast in the dining hall
8.20am Students allowed in to school building
8.25am Bell to let students know to make their way to registration
8.30am AM Registration
8.40am Lesson 1
9.40am Lesson 2
10.40am Break
11.00am Lesson 3
12.00pm Lesson 4
1.00pm Lunch
1.40pm Bell to let students know to make their way to registration or assembly
2.05pm Lesson 5
3.05pm Hearing impaired students attend post-tutoring sessions in HIP
3.05pm End of core day, start of extra-curricular activities

Students will be expected to stay until 3.25pm if they are asked to by staff, for example for a same day detention.

Students will also stay after school if they have other activities after school – for example enrichment activities, exam intervantion or coursework catch up sessions.

If students are expected to stay longer than 3.25pm staff will notify parents and carers by telephone, letter or text, through students’ planners or through messages passed to students. Parents and carers will be given prior notice of detentions longer than 20 minutes.

Please look out for texts, letters, website notifications, messages in planners etc. If your child is part of a team or engages in school enrichment opportunities please ask them about any arrangements or forthcoming events.
