Sports Day Thursday 9th July 2026
We are excited to announce our athletics themed whole school Sports Day on Thursday 9th July 2026.
To give students an authentic athletics experience we are repeating last year's very successful event at Ashton Playing Fields. Please note that unfortunately, parents and carers will not be able to attend. Staff will be on hand to supervise and support throughout the day.
The following equipment and clothing are needed for all pupils:
A T-shirt in their designated form colour (please see table) with shorts or sports track suit bottoms and trainers. T-shirt must be appropriate - no crop tops, vests or hot-pant style shorts.
- Form A - Red
- Form B - Blue
- Form C - White
- Form D - Yellow
- Form E - Green
- Form F - Orange
*If your child does not have a matching top then they must wear the Caterham PE kit top or a plain black T-shirt.
- Sun cream and a hat as there are not large areas of shade. Hay fever medication should be taken at home.
- A good lunch with snacks. An ice-cream van may be onsite so students will need a small amount of cash, trips to an offsite shop are not permitted.
- A packed lunch will be provided for those eligible for free school meals.
- Everyone should bring a large bottle of water.
- MEDICAL EQUIPMENT – students needing an Epi-pen or inhaler or similar MUST bring these with them.
Arrangements for getting to and from Ashton playing fields
Year 10 - students must go directly to the track and arrive by 9.15am. They will be met by staff at Aston Playing Fields (Woodford Bridge, IG8 8AA – Bus route 275) and be registered on arrival by their allocated staff member. We are expecting a 2pm finish with students dismissed from the venue. Year 10 students will be expected to leave immediately and make their own way home.
Year 7, 8 and 9 – students should come to school as normal and will be walked to Ashton Playing Field by school staff. We are expecting a 2pm finish and all students will be dismissed from the venue unless you state otherwise. Pupils will be expected to leave immediately upon dismissal.
Dismissal from the venue – please ensure your Year 7, 8 or 9 child knows whether they are leaving from the site to make their way home or where you will arrange to meet them if collecting from the venue.
If you would like your child to walk back to school with staff, then please send an email with the title ‘Sports day 2026’ to welcome@ecaterham.net by 2pm on Thursday the 2ND of July.
It is vital that you send us this email if you would like your child to be taken back to school by staff. If you do not send the school an email, your child will be allowed to leave the sports ground and walk home.
If your child is unwell, please follow the usual absence procedure: 0208 551 4321.
We are very excited about this event and know that students will have a great day. We expect all students to our behaviour expectations. Students unable to meet the expected standards of behaviour will be escorted back to school.
This is a schoolwide Athletics Day and is an opportunity for students to get recognition for their physical achievements and ability to work as part of a team. We have always had a very enjoyable event in the past – we hope to see some more school records broken this year!
If you have further questions, please contact the school: welcome@ecaterham.net
