Personal, Social and Health Education (inc Careers)

PSHCE and Careers are delivered by a committed team of specialist teachers. Students receive 1 hour/week of PSHCE (out of a 25 hour week). It is taught in form groups in Year 7 – 9 and current affairs issues such as sex education, drugs, terrorism, government and politics.

At KS 4 students have the option of studying GCSE Citizenship Studies. All students at KS 4 explore human sexuality, war and peace and crime and punishment with the view to recognise, clarify and if necessary challenge their own core values and how their values influence their choices and decisions.

Years 12 and 13 have a separate course developed and administered by the Head of Sixth Form. The materials delivered incorporate work on citizenship and being an active citizen across all year groups which meet statutory requirements.
