On Thursday 18th June, Tareq Ahmed and I went back to our old primary school, Roding, to talk about our life as hearing impaired students at Caterham. We had prepared and practised our presentation as part of speech and language therapy but I still felt apprehensive. Happily, everything went well. At rst we gave our presentation to class 5C, which had 3 hearing impaired students present. Then we went to another class, many of the children asked questions, which was good. I felt glad that I could answer their questions clearly. One question they asked was “ How do you feel about being deaf ?” My answer was:

I am proud to be deaf because I am God’s creation and I respect his creation. I am myself and I was born deaf. I am proud because I have gone through a lot and been successful and I hope I will continue to do well in the future.

After this we spoke to year 6 students in the hall. It went well and the pupils seemed to find it interesting; there was lots of applause and cheering! It was a brilliant experience
